Businesses united to help kids play

On Oct. 27, Ron Mackinnon, of the Community Resource and Ontario Early Years Centre, the owners of Big Monkey Little Monkey, photographer Sheri Visakaly, and Rina Todd co-owner of Van Galis Restaurant met to celebrate a donation.

The money, $500, was for the Let Kids Play program in Centre Wellington. It allows families who cannot afford to enroll their children in extra curricular activities including Sports, art, and music to be subsidized so the children can participate in those programs.

Photgraphs were taken of 18 local children wearing Big Monkey Little Monkey clothing, and those pictures were posted in Van Galis restaurant. Customers were encouraged to view the pictures and vote for their favourite outfits, with a donation to the Let Kids Play program.

Claire Welsh and Jennifer Cousineau, owners of Big Monkey Little Monkey, matched the total value of those donations. The three local small businesses were proud to cross promote their businesses at the same time as giving back to their local community. www.BigMonkeyLittleMonkey.com, www.SheriVisakaly.com and www.VanGalis.ca.
