Brisbane residents would like road speeds reduced

There’s a motion afoot to slow things down in the area of Wellington County Road 124 between Brisbane and Erin Village.

On Feb. 5, Erin council discussed a request that the speed limit in the area be reviewed.

The argument made by councillor John Brennan, on behalf of local residents, is that since the speed limit was last reviewed more homes have been built along that stretch of road, which means more driveways.

In addition, the county roads department works yard has large trucks entering and leaving its garage on the road.

Concern has also been expressed about the number of pedestrians, including children who walk beside the roadway.

Although the resolution was brought before Erin council, the request is for Wellington County to review the speed limit along the country road in the area – and come up with a consistent speed limit of 60km/h.
