Bridge re-elected to FCM board of directors

Wellington County councillor and Minto Mayor George Bridge has been re-elected to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) board of directors for the 2017-2018 term.

Bridge is one of only 16 members representing the Ontario Caucus.

The FCM board, elected at the federation’s conference on June 4, is made up of elected municipal officials and affiliate members from regions and communities from across Canada.

The board meets quarterly to discuss key municipal issues, set policy priorities, and serve as a support system for municipalities bringing their messages to the federal government.

‘‘It is a tremendous honour to be re-elected to the FCM national board of directors by my Ontario peers,’’ said George Bridge.

‘‘I am proud to continue to be an advocate for Ontario and Wellington County. I look forward to working directly with other leaders from across the country on important municipal issues.’’

FCM’s board forms a broad base of support and carries the municipal message to the Government of Canada.

Bridge has served the Town of Minto and Wellington County since 2010.
