Blue Bonnet Lassies hit road for summer competitions

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance travelled across Ontario to compete through the month of June.

Ashley Elliott, Emma Horlsey, and Eila Gillies.

Georgetown

On June 10, dancers competed at the Georgetown Highland Games. 

In the Primary 5 years category Brianna Earle placed third in Pas de Basque and High Cuts, Fling, and Sword, and fourth in Pas de Baseque. 

In the Beginner 6 and under eight years category Harlyn Heathers placed fifth in Seann Truibhas, and sixth in Fling and Lilt. 

In the Beginner 9 years category Scarlett Jackson placed fourth in Lilt and sixth in Sword. 

In the Beginner 10 and under 12 years category Maribelle McBroom placed fourth in Lilt and fifth in Fling. 

In the Beginner 12 and under 14 years Brooke Bailey placed fifth in Lilt. 

In the Intermediate 14 and under 16 years Eila Gillies placed fifth in Sword and sixth in Fling. 

In the Intermediate 16 years and over category, Ashley Elliott placed second in Fling, third in Jug, fourth in Sword, and fifth in Seann Truibhas. 

In the Premier 18 and under 24 years category Emma Horsley placed sixth in Fling, Sword, Seann Truibhas, and Jig. 

Cobourg

A week later on June 17, dancers competed in the Cobourg Highland Games. 

In the Beginner category Maribelle Mcbroom placed fifth in Flora and sixth in Sword.

Kingsville

Lastly, on June 24, dancers competed at the Kingsville Highland Games. 

In the Beginner category Maribelle Mcbroom placed first in Fling and Seann Truibhas, second in Lilt and third in Sword, earning her the highest points in her category and overall trophy and scholarship. 

The dancers will be competing across Canada in July.
