Bears Cheerleading perform well at championships

The Bears Cheerleading club from Fergus and Guelph recently competed in the Ontario Cheerleading Federation Provincial and National Championships in Brampton.

In the OCF Provincials competition on March 5, there were six teams competing, and also two athletes doing Individuals.

The girls doing individuals, Morgan Vodden and Hannah Swan, placed first in their divisions.

In the mini level 1, the Teddy Bears placed sixth. The Panda Bears placed eighth and the Cinnamon Bears placed eleventh in the youth level 1. The Polar Bears, in junior level 2, placed third and the Glacier Bears in junior level 3 also placed third.

The Kermode Bears, in the International Open 4.2, placed second.

In the OCF Nationals competition on  April 2, the Glacier Bears placed sixth and the Kermode Bears performed an Open Level 2 demo.

In the junior level 3, Morgan Vodden placed second. Hannah Swan, in the youth level 1, placed first and LJ Kelly, in the mini level 1, placed third.

Bears Cheerleading had two duos compete. In the junior level 1 division, Alyssa Manfini and Alexis Flood placed first. In the junior level 3, Tearslee Thomas and Darla Reeves also placed first.

The team’s annual exhibit is on May 13 at the Fergus Sportsplex. The event is free, but a donation to the Centre Wellington Food Bank is welcomed.
