BBC seeks descendants of settlers for show

The British Broadcasting Corporation is profiling communities around the world for its Empire series, and Fergus resident Pat Mestern said recently she has a new request from that company. “The producers would like me to find a half dozen direct descendents of the earliest settlers in Fergus,” Mestern said in an email. “They would like a good representation in age.”

She added, “I do have several people in mind but would like a few more to be in touch with me” at  mestern@wightman.ca   or  1-519-843-3842  ASAP.  The individuals or family must have a good knowledge of exactly how their family is connected.

Mestern said, “Ultimately, the choice of interviewee is up to the BBC, but I would love to have a good list for them.”

The BBC is scheduled to film in Fergus in December.
