Bank provides $10,000 to support nurses throughout Wellington County

Building on a commitment to support healthcare and nurses, RBC has announced $20,000 in donations to North Wellington Health Care Corporation and the Groves Hospital in Fergus.

The equal donations will fund training programs and educational opportunities that will allow nurses in those two systems to provide leading-edge healthcare to the community.

The bank will be launching the Nursing Excellence awards program during National Nurse’s Week from May 9 to 13. The community is invited into the RBC Fergus and Mount Forest branches to read stories of six exceptional nurses and vote for the nurse they feel is most deserving of a bursary for professional development.

The winners will use the bursary for training programs and continuing education to further develop their skills and provide the most advanced healthcare services to the community.

“Continuing education programs are a vital component in the ongoing training and professional development of nurses,” said Gianni Accettola, NWHC manager professional practice. “The RBC Nursing Excellence award will allow nurses to benefit from these programs and ensure that our loved ones receive the best possible care.”

“Our healthcare system is built upon the strength of our nurses,” said Bruce Gehlen, regional vice-president for Central Ontario, RBC. “This program is RBC’s way of thanking nurses for their tremendous work in keeping our communities healthy.”
