Backyard concert on Aug. 20 raises funds for local food bank

Dream Corners Bed and Breakfast will host its fourth annual backyard concert fundraiser for the Centre Wellington Food Bank on Aug. 20, from 2 to 8pm.

“Music is the perfect way to bring people together,” said Dream Corner’s Verna Hunt. “And this year’s performers have been amazing in giving their time to help the food bank.”

The laid-back, rain-or-shine backyard concert will feature 20- or 30-minute sets by 13 musicians from the area.

Hunt’s initial concept for the event came from her Newfoundland roots where music is a part of so many get-togethers.

Admission is a donation of non-perishable food or household items to help neighbours in need.

On the barbecue grill will be a choice of hamburgers, sausages or hot dogs with a soft drink for a $5 donation and fresh corn for $1.

Money will be raised through draws and a small silent auction, for which local businesses and individuals have been generous in donating over 80 prizes.

Everyone is invited to this relaxing summertime event. Those attending are asked to their own lawn chairs to Dream Corners Bed and Breakfast, 498 St. David Street North at Garafraxa, in Fergus.
