MINTO – Gardening season is here! Gardening has many benefits including promoting heart health, flexibility, strength, and maintaining balance and coordination. It acts as a natural stress reliever, mood booster and improves cognitive function by keeping our minds and bodies engaged. 

PALMERSTON – The Minto Farmers’ Market held a ‘family day’ event at the market in Palmerston on July 27.

MOUNT FOREST – A Mount Forest organization that provides support for young mothers and their newborn babies when they have nowhere else to go was one of the beneficiaries of Adama Canada’s Stomping Grounds campaign, which supports community projects for positive change.

PALMERSTON – Tim Hortons in Palmerston donated $11,560 to the Palmerston MRI+ Campaign from its Smile Cookie Campaign on July 29.

MAPLETON – The Alma Optimist Club held a community BBQ at the Alma Community Centre on July 26.

HARRISTON – Stonehouse Design celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting on July 12.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The glaciers that formed the topography of Wellington County left areas of sand and gravel deposits that created dry, rocky areas in gardens. 

PALMERSTON – The Palmerston Lions Club has closed formal meeting for the year, but will be active in the community over the summer months with ongoing projects.

ARTHUR – Sterre Cafe and Gifts (222 George St., Arthur), under new ownership, held a ribbon cutting and grand reopening on July 13.

ERIN – Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Elora Cataract Trail, near the 4th Line in Erin, on July 28 at about 11pm.

MOUNT FOREST – North Wellington Health Care and the Mount Forest Family Health Team officially have a new doctor, though she is not new to the community.
