Police beat: Centre Wellington resident faces gun, assault charges

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Police have charged a local resident with assault and possession of a gun following an incident here last week.

Wellington County OPP officials say officers were called to “a disturbance at an address within Centre Wellington Township” on Jan. 26 at about 1:30pm.

A 33-year-old Centre Wellington resident was charged with assault and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

“The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim(s),” police stated in a Jan. 28 press release.

Driving charges

PUSLINCH – A Puslinch driver is facing numerous charges after a recent traffic stop here.

Wellington County OPP officials say an officer initiated a traffic stop on Wellington Road 35 on Jan. 27 at about 12pm.

A 31-year-old from Puslinch is charged with driving without a licence, using unauthorized plates, failing to apply for a permit and driving without insurance.

The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
