Area high school plans a Native Heritage Day

Centre Wellington District High School will present its first Native Heritage Day on March 26.

Doors open at 11am and the opening celebration will be at noon. There will be presentations and demonstrations that will honour the old ways. Native artisans will showcase their work through the artisan market. First Nations oral customs will be brought to life through storytelling activities in a real tipi.

Special guest Don Kelly, the host of the Gemini-nominated series Fish Out of Water, will share his humourous tales as they relate to his search for his native roots.

Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to the Southern Ontario Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative.
