Anti-bullying charity seeks donations

Officials of BullyingCanada say the nationally-registered anti-bullying charitable organization is facing a dim future without assistance from the public.

“This isn’t about putting money in our wallets, it’s about getting the funds we need to save and change the lives of Canada’s youth not only for today but for tomorrow as well” said Katie Neu, co-founder of BullyingCanada.

BullyingCanada is currently in its second year of operation as a charity but has been a national organization since its creation by Neu and Rob Frenette, of Listowel in 2006.

Last year, the nationally registered charity was able to collect $40,325 in donations. But officials say the organization does not have enough of a cash-flow to operate at full capacity for the month of November.

“Without the financial support of citizens across Canada we simply will not be able to keep up operations; bills are coming in with no way to pay them. We need the public’s help,” said Frenette.

BullyingCanada currently provides a number of national services, including a 24/7 telephone support network to youth, parents, educators and the public to get information, support and resources on the topic of bullying;

Donors who send a donation in any amount will be mailed a charitable tax receipt.

Donations can be made online at: www.bullyingcanada.ca, by telephone at (toll free) 877-947-3674 or donations can be by mail to the Ontario office (see website for address).
