School board kicks off United Way fundraising campaign

The Upper Grand District School Board’s annual United Way Campaign kicked off in schools and board offices on Oct. 16 and will run until Nov. 17.

For over 75 years, United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin has worked to meet the needs of the community, officials say.

Funds raised by United Way, which is directed by a board of volunteers, managed by committed staff and supported by thousands of donors, go to support many programs in Wellington, Guelph and Dufferin.

United Way supports a number of local programs and agencies. In the 2017-2018 year, United Way will donate funds to 88 programs at 54 community agencies.

Some of the organizations the United Way supports in include Action Read; Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Wellington, Dufferin, Guelph and North Wellington; Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington; Dufferin Child and Family Services; Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County and many more.
