The county is handing out a total of $49,400 in donations this year to a wide range of community groups.
County council approved the grants at its March 27 meeting as recommended by its administration, finance and personnel committee. Groups which applied and were approved for grants will receive between $500 to $2,000.
Those receiving $500 grants included the Erin Agricultural Society, Fergus Agricultural Society, Palmerston Agricultural Society, Wellington County Historical Society and Wellington Soil and Crop Improvement Association.
The Wellington County 4-H Association received a $1,500 grant for the year.
Those receiving $2,000 grants this year include East Wellington Community Services, The Door Mobile Youth Centre in Erin, Food and Friends (Children’s Foundation), Centre Welling-ton Food Bank, Elora Arts Council, Fergus Pipe Band and Hospice Wellington.
