The second report of the Ponsonby Public School boundary review has been posted to the Upper Grand District School Board website at www.ugdsb.on.ca/pbr.
The distribution of Report #2 came in advance of its presentation at a public information session on Nov. 14.
The document was presented to trustees on Nov. 12 during the meeting of the business operations committee.
The board launched the review in September because enrolment projections for Ponsonby PS anticipate the school will be overcapacity by 2015.
Elora PS was included in the boundary review as it accommodates Grade 7 and 8 students from Ponsonby PS.
Ponsonby PS is a JK-6 school with 190 pupil places, while Elora PS is a JK-8 school with 475 pupil places.
The staff boundary review committee has put forward two scenarios for consideration.
The first scenario, preferred by staff, would see enrolment at the two schools balanced by shifting Grade 6 from Ponsonby to Elora. This would mean students at Ponsonby would attend Elora PS one year earlier.
The second option proposes redrawing the boundary maps for Elora PS and Ponsonby PS, reassigning residences in the area of Hill Street of Elora. Currently, 12 students from this area attend Ponsonby PS, but in this scenario, would move to Elora PS. Any changes would not be effective until September 2015.
Report #2 was to be presented at a public information session on Nov. 14 from 7 to 9pm at Ponsonby PS.
