PALMERSTON – Community members may hear jingle bells on Dec. 6 as a certain jolly man is coming to town for the Palmerston Santa Claus Parade.
“Celebrate the holiday spirit with festive floats, cheerful music and a special appearance by Santa himself,” Minto Fire Deputy Fire Chief Callise Loos told the Community News.
The parade will begin at the Palmerston Fire Hall, then drive up King Street, turn right on James Street, another right on Main Street East and conclude by turning left on Brunswick Street.
Floats should line up at Ashland Transport beside the fire hall for 6pm.
No registration is required to participate.
The parade is slated to begin at 7pm with around 50 floats.
Participants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes for best commercial float, best non-commercial float and best walker.
The first place winner will receive $200 and $150 for second. The best overall float will receive $300.
“The Palmerston Kinettes will be collecting donations for the foodbank along the parade route,” she said.
A visit with Santa will occur directly after the parade at the Palmerston Legion.
