DRAYTON – Santa Claus is coming to town!
This year’s Drayton parade will take place on Dec. 5, beginning at 7pm.
“Bring your family and friends to enjoy festive floats, sparkling lights and holiday music as we welcome the holiday season in style,” organizers invite.
The parade is organized by Mapleton Fire Rescue.
Mapleton public works manager and firefighter Jim Grose said from what he’s heard, attendees can expect the star of the show – Santa Claus – to be joined by his wife Mrs. Claus for the fourth year in a row this year.
Floats will line up along Elm Street near the Drayton Fair Grounds before heading up towards Wood Street.
The parade will then turn right on Wood, and follow Wood Street until turning left on Wellington Road 11.
It will then go up Wellington Road 11 until turning left on Spring Street.
It will follow Spring Street until reaching Edward Street, where it will turn left and head back towards downtown.

Food bank donations will be collected by Mapleton firefighters along the parade route, so everyone is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items along to the parade.
Following the parade people are invited back to the Drayton Fire Hall for photos with Santa, as well as hot chocolate and treats provided by the Rotary Club of Drayton.
Grose said Santa will stick around until all the kids have a chance to meet him, with things typically wrapping up at the Fire Hall between 8:30 and 9pm.
Anyone wanting to participate in the parade should decorate a float and show up at the ball diamonds between 6:15 and 6:30pm, Grose said.
