ARTHUR – On Long-Term Care Community Engagement Day (Sept. 12), Caressant Care Arthur long-term care/retirement home welcomed Perth-Wellington MP John Nater, and Wellington North councillors Lisa Hern and Steve McCabe.
Caressant Care officials say it was “a memorable visit that brought together residents, families, staff and community leaders in celebration and connection.”
The MP and councillors toured the home, mingled with residents, staff and families, and joined in the Resident Social, where Caressant Care officials say “laughter, stories, and light refreshments created a warm and engaging atmosphere.
“A particularly heartfelt moment came when MP Nater delivered a thoughtful speech to our residents, expressing his appreciation for their strength, life stories, and the vital role they continue to play in our community,” officials stated in a press release.
“During the tour, elected officials also took time to learn about some of the small but meaningful details that make our home special.
“They were particularly impressed by our rather large Aloe Vera plant, which recently bloomed and sparked a fun guessing game among the residents, a testament to the joy and engagement that flourish within our home.
The politicians personally congratulated two residents celebrating milestone birthdays: Olga Tombs, who turned 101 that day, and Reta Denman, who will celebrate her 90th birthday on Sept. 27.
“Their joy and the smiles shared made the occasion even more special.”
This visit also marked the official kickoff of Caressant Care’s 50th Anniversary as a company.
Caressant Care officials expressed appreciation to the politicians “for taking the time to visit and for their continued support and advocacy for long-term care in our community.”
