‘Gourd’ times to be had at this year’s Grand Valley Fall Fair

GRAND VALLEY – “Gourd” times are sure to be had at this year’s Grand Valley Fall Fair.

This year’s fair will be held Sept. 19 to 21. The theme is “pumpkins and pulls,” a festive tribute to the joys of fair season.

Friday

The fair kicks off on Sept. 19 with a special tween dance hosted by the Grand Valley library and the Grand Valley Agricultural Society.

The dance is for tweens ages 10 to 14 and will take place on the second floor of the arena from 7 to 9pm.

Downstairs, exhibits will be open from 7 to 9pm. There will also be live entertainment by Harp and Keys.

Saturday

The fun kicks off at 10am on Saturday with a multitude of both indoor and outdoor events for all ages.

Indoor events for the day include displays, exhibits, and food booths all day, face painting from 11am to 3pm, Party Safari, an interactive small animal demonstration,  from 12 to 3pm and live music from The Silver Crickets, from 2 to 4pm, and the Debbie and Peter Band from 7 to 10pm.

Saturday’s outdoor events include all day access to the popular escape room, RV games trailer, L’ill Farming Fun and Tiger Paws Animals.

The beer tent and 4H livestock show will open at 11am as well as this year’s dog show and Kids’ Games and Races event which will run from 11am to 2pm. 

Kiddie Tractor Pull registration is at 3:30pm with the event beginning at 4pm.

It is followed by the tractor pull at 5pm. 

Sunday

The escape room, RV games trailer and the multitude of food trucks on site will run from 10am to 3pm.

This year’s touch a truck event will run from 11am to 2pm with options to touch police cars, ambulances and fire trucks.

The beer tent will be open from 11am to 2pm followed by truck pulls, L’il Farming Fun and Tiger Paws Animals from 1 to 3pm. Sunday’s indoor events will begin at 10am when the exhibit hall opens.

Susan Stamm will be demonstrating wool spinning from 11am to 3pm.

Zumbini with Miss Leah will run from 12 to 1pm.  Those with little ones looking to be on stage with Miss Leah are required to register. More information can be found at the Grand Valley fall fair website. 

There will also be a caricature artist wandering the grounds from 12 to 3pm. The exhibit hall will close at 3pm.

Tickets for this year’s fair are $5 on Friday, $15 for adults Saturday and Sunday and $5 for children ages 4 to 14 Saturday and Sunday. Children under 4 are free. This year’s weekend pass is $25. For more information on tickets and events visit grandvalleyfallfair.ca.
