9th Annual Health Care Heroes Radiothon a success

Since 2002 the CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon has helped raise $6,038,100 for local hospital foundations through the generous donations of people and businesses in midwestern Ontario.

The $6-million landmark was reached on Oct. 16, when the 9th Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes raised $621,215  over eight hours, as volunteers came together at the CKNX studios in Wingham to take pledges.

Fifteen hospital foundations, each with their own fundraising project, were involved in this year’s Radiothon, which was simulcast on CKNX AM 920, 101.7 The One and 94.5 The Bull.

For the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation (PDHF), the Radiothon helped raise money for vital inpatient and operating room equipment.

“The Radiothon funds will be used to purchase equipment such as a laproscopic camera and cautery equipment for surgical procedures,” said PDHF spokesperson Dale Franklin. “Two IV pumps and an ECG machine are also needed.”

The campaign is continuing until the end of November. For more information contact the PDHF office at 519-343-2030 ext 4402.
