Congratulations to all of the award winners at the 242 Ross Ferguson Squadron Annual Review on June 14.
The event was a great success with approximately 185 spectators watching as the cadets marched the parade square and showed the crowd just how good they were as a group. The VIPs in attendance included the Reviewing Officer Major Donald Bryce, the Honourable MP Michael Chong, Erin Town Councillor John Brennan, eight members of the Ross Ferguson Family, various 442 Legion Executive and members as well as guest personnel from other local air cadet squadrons.
This year’s flag party consisted of five members – FSgt Daniel Levinter, FSgt William Watkins, Sgt. Katie Dowling, LAC Riley Benville and FCpl Avery Irving-Kerr. The flag party put on a very clean demonstration which was enjoyed by all. WO2 Alex Buonafede, Cpl Adrian Foell and LAC Connor Bennett had a remote control flying demonstration using helicopters. They each had the opportunity to show their ability to fly them with precision.
Following the parade and review the VIPs, cadets and their families had the opportunity to check out demonstrations and displays on the arena floor. FSgt Daniel Levinter arranged for the squadron to have a glider on site for people to visit, several cadets had a MRE – Meal, Ready-to-Eat sampling station, there were photo displays, power point presentations and food.
This event was the final event at the squadron for Commanding Officer Andrew Adamczak. Cpt. Adamczak will be leaving 242 to head up the Woodbridge 283 Squadron in the fall while 242s Cpt Victoria Sullivan will step in as Commanding Officer.
