$10,000 RBC donation to Groves hospital one of several in region

Building an ongoing commitment to support health care and nurses, on May 14 RBC announced its $10,000 donation to Groves Memorial Community Hospital here.

The donation helps fund training programs and educational opportunities that will help nurses provide leading edge care to the local community.

These funds are part of this year’s $70,000 commitment to health care – but also part of an ongoing contribution to the community.

“Supporting our local hospitals is important to our employees, our clients and our communities and we are proud to make this investment in Groves Community Memorial Hospital,” said Gregg Mitchell, RBC vice president commercial and agricultural.

Since the initiative began in 2009, RBC has donated $500,000 to further the professional development of nurses in Grey, Bruce, Wellington, Perth and Dufferin counties.

Mitchell said, “We just find this is a great way we can help the communities we work in.”

He noted he’d had the pleasure of seeing some of the training initiatives at Groves where nurses have come in and had the chance to train at different workstations.

“The money is clearly well used,” he said, adding he anticipates RBC’s commitment to continue for years to come.

Groves hospital CEO Jerome Quenneville said, “It’s good to be able to plan for more training. I’m really proud to accept this on behalf of the hospital and the nurses and patients will benefit from this.”
