“˜Tiny friends”™ and “˜grand friend”™ visits at Highland Manor Retirement Lodge

Once a month members of the Community Resource Centre Child Care centre at J.D. Hogarth School  get on their jackets and their shoes to line up and take a hold of the donut rope.

These 14 little friends then make the journey down the street to visit at Highland Manor Retirement Lodge.

Once at the manor, there are a group of “grand friends” there to greet them in the main lobby.

The “tiny friends” form a circle and sit on their little markers – now they are all ready to sing action songs to their grand friends.

“The happy faces of the residents at the manor suggest how much they appreciate their visit from the children,” officials say.

After the tiny friends finish singing they choose a book from the book bag and a grand friend to read with. Both the children and the seniors enjoy this part of the program very much, state officials.

When the books are done and packed away the tiny friends sing Au Revoir and line up once again to hang on to the donut rope and head back to the day care.

What is left are a bunch of smiles on the faces of the residents at Highland Manor.
