YMCA-YWCA of Guelph offers free program to women who survived breast cancer

The YMCA-YWCA of Guelph has a new session of the YWCA ENCORE program beginning April 19.

YWCA ENCORE is a free weekly exercise program running from April 19 to June 7, designed specifically for women who have experienced mastectomy, lumpectomy or breast reconstruction surgery at any time in their lives.

YWCA ENCORE is more than an exercise program – it provides a supportive environment where women are able to share their experiences, concerns and feelings with one another.

Based around floor exercises, pool exercises and relaxation techniques, YWCA ENCORE is safe, fun, and therapeutic.

The YWCA ENCORE program runs Tuesdays from 6 to 8pm and covers a variety of topics, as well as features guest speakers who are professional members of the community. The list of speakers includes:

– April 19: Welcome to ENCORE! Lynn Roodbol, Wellness Coach;

– April 26: Kathy Somers, stress management and high performance clinic;

– May 3: Renata DeForest, registered massage therapist, specializing in manual lymph drainage and bandaging;

– May 10: Mary Haggerty, certified laughter yoga leader;

– May 17: Dominique Schellenberg, registered dietitian;
