Wellington County councillor Chris White will resume his position as director for the Rural Caucus for the Association of Municipalities Ontario (AMO) Board of Directors.
The AMO Board of Directors is made up of municipal representatives from communities across Ontario.
The board meets five times a year to discuss key municipal issues and develop policy positions and reports.
It also serves as a support system for municipalities, including offering cost-saving programs, training opportunities and other helpful tools.
“It is an honour to be appointed to the AMO board of directors,” said White, the mayor of Guelph-Eramosa.
“I look forward to continuing the board’s important work with municipalities across Ontario, and am proud to advocate for Ontario and Wellington residents.”
White has been elected for the 2016 to 2018 term. He is one of 43 elected and non-elected members of this governing body of AMO.
The association works to make Ontario’s municipal governments more effective by connecting all 444 municipalities throughout Ontario, so they can work together to achieve shared goals and meet common challenges, officials state.
AMO boasts a long-standing history; the first meeting of this association was held in Hamilton in 1899.
