WELLINGTON NORTH – Five developers have been given the green light needed to move forward with subdivisions in Wellington North, as council allocated sewage services for 418 units.

That includes 100 units for one development in Mount Forest (the Sarah Properties subdivision on Cork Street) and 318 across four developments in Arthur (130 for the Sarah Properties subdivision; 71 for a commercial block on Eliza Street; 55 for Eastridge Estates Subdivision and 62 for Harvest View).

The sewage allocation agreements cover a three-year term, and council gave staff the go-ahead to enter into the agreements on April 7.

Another 40 units of sewage allocation are set aside for distribution to infill lots this year – 20 in Arthur and 20 in Mount Forest.

Sewage allocation for another 282 units (80 between two Arthur subdivisions and 202 between five Mount Forest subdivisions) were previously granted and remain committed.

Three subdivisions, previously granted sewage allocations that are yet unused, have expired and returned to the township’s uncommitted reserve capacity – that’s 100 from the Sunvale Subdivision on Cork Street in Mount Forest; 27 from 425 and 427 King St. E. in Mount Forest and 37 from Gordon Street in Arthur.

The allocations were made based on evaluations from Triton Engineering based on the three-year average daily flow of the wastewater treatment plants in Mount Forest and Arthur.

The engineers identified Mount Forest’s uncommitted sewage reserve capacity at 843 units and Arthur’s at 351 units.

Since the recent allocations, there are 743 uncommitted units in Mount Forest and 33 in Arthur.

Recent provincial funding will enable an expansion of the wastewater treatment plant in Arthur, which is expected to increase the plant’s capacity from 1,860m3 to 2,300m3 per day, increasing Arthur’s uncommitted units by 440.
