Wellington County Museum and Archives presents Talk to me! telephone exhibit

ABOYNE – A must-see exhibit at Wellington County Museum and Archives, Talk to Me! is now open featuring the telephone collection of Paul Axman of Guelph/Eramosa Township.

“Have you ever wondered how the telephone works or how this Canadian invention has changed over the last century?” asks Amy Dunlop, curator of the exhibit.

“As the latest exhibit in the Wellington County Collects series, Paul Axman’s telephone collection highlights the inner workings of the telephone highlighting its importance in local and regional history.”

“The telephone, for better or worse, is one of the most defining inventions over the last 140 years,” says Axman.

“My hope is that my collection will show people the evolution of the telephone from crank to touchtone; giving people pause to reflect on just how much telephones have impacted our lives today.”

Open until Jan. 9, Talk to Me! will also have a variety of online programming throughout the year. Stay tuned for the museum’s ‘Telephone Talks’ online series and ‘Telephone Take Away’ craft videos launch on the website in March, which can be found at www.wellington.ca/museum.
