WEB ONLY: New website connects owners for care of horses

As of this weekend, horse owners and equine enthusiasts living in Midwestern Ontario will have 24-hour access to regional horse industry information at www.theRuralHorse.com.

The free online resource of all things equine in midwestern Ontario has been created to share industry knowledge with the equine community while promoting the industry product and service providers that serve the region.

Visitors to the site can view and add listings to the user initiated features. They include an industry referral directory of product and service providers, classified listings, an equestrian events calendar, equine News items and a social networking question and answer forum.

To complement those online services, a convenient print version of the referral directory will be published using the online database. The first annual edition of the Rural Horse Directory will be published in January and distributed free of charge through sponsor distribution sites.

TheRuralHorse.com was created by Susan Redlick-Hewitson, better known to some in the horse industry as Susan the Horse Lady, as a division of her company EquiVisions Unlimited. An equine events production and marketing company established to produce learning events and information resources.

Through need and frustration shared by other owners and first-hand experience, it became Redlick-Hewitson’s passion to create an information forum that would help fellow equestrians in midwestern Ontario provide for the health and welfare of their equine companions. That passion gave birth to the vision for her company and ultimately the creation of the website.

It is her belief the strength and viability of the horse industry depends strongly on the exchange of knowledge that educates and empowers horse owners, enabling them to make informed decisions that once applied can improve the health and optimize the performance of the equine.

A public launch for theRuralHorse.com website will occur this weekend at the Can-Am All Breeds Equine Emporium being held at the Western Fairgrounds in London. That event is recognized as the largest equine education and recognition event staged in Canada. It runs from March 20 to  22.
