A local volunteer has received an Ontario Volunteer Service Award for 25 years of volunteer work at Highland Manor Retirement Lodge in Fergus.
Helen Marucci was unable to attend the province’s official ceremony in March, so Highland Manor held its own ceremony to congratulate her.
Activity Director Debbie Orosz presented Marucci with flowers in front of a group of residents who regularly attend Marucci’s readings.
Mariccui, 75, reads stories weekly to residents at the Highland Manor.
Over 9,000 Ontarians received volunteer awards during ceremonies held across the province from March to June. Over 40 awards were given to Wellington volunteers.
