Upcoming auditions for two shows with Elmira Theatre Company

ELMIRA – The Elmira Theatre Company is looking for actors to audition for two upcoming productions: Ed’s Garage and Pearl Gidley.  

Ed’s Garage

Ed’s Garage, in Port Petunia, does more than oil changes – it also fixes people. 

Ed is a retired farmer turned garage owner but still considers himself a farmer for tax purposes. 

Things get a little complicated when Ed’s right-hand man Nick discovers he has rented out the cottage adjacent to the garage to an accredited psychotherapist.

Ed’s Garage is written by Dan Needles, directed by Brian Otto, and produced by Joe Brenner. 

Auditions are June 19 and 20, from 7 to 8pm at the Elmira Theatre Company.  Auditions will be readings from the script. Callbacks will be June 21 from 7 to 8pm.

Cast requirements include one man in his 30s,  one man in his 40s, one man in his 60s and one woman in her 30s.

There will be seven  shows on Thursday through Sunday from Nov. 10 to 19. All shows are at 8pm except Sundays which are 2:30pm matinees.

Pearl Gidley

Inspired by a true story, Pearl Gidley tells the tale of the Gidley sisters, Pearl and Edith, who live in Blyth, Ontario in 1969. 

The Gidley sisters have occasionally taken in boarders to help pay the bills. 

Their friend, George is involved with helping young American men dodge the Vietnam war draft in the U.S. 

George asks them to provide room and board for a few days to a young man he calls Charles and over the course of the next few days, they learn a lot about each other, and about themselves. 

Pearl Gidley is by Cambridge-based playwright, Gary Kirkham. The production will be directed by Kathleen Sheehy and produced by Iris Miltenburg.

Auditions are at the Elmira Theatre Company on June 26 and 27 at 7pm.  Callbacks will be on June 28 at 7pm. 

Cast requirements include: two women in their late 60s, one man in his 40s  and one man in his 20s.

Auditionees will read short scenes from the play. There is no need to prepare a monologue. Wear comfy clothes.

There will be seven shows, Thursdays through Sundays, from Feb. 2 to 11. All shows are at 8pm except Sundays, which are 2:30pm matinees.
