The February meeting of the Upper Grand District School Board was held on Feb. 23.
Proposed school year calendar for 2016-17 approved
Trustees approved draft school year calendars for the 2016-2017 school year for elementary and secondary schools in Upper Grand. The draft calendars will now be submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval.
Both calendars have 194 school days, including seven professional activity days. Ten instructional days have been scheduled for secondary exams. Students will start the year on Sept. 6.
The last day of school will fall on June 27, 2017 for secondary students and June 29 for elementary students. Due to where the Christmas holidays fall next year, the committee recommended a modified calendar proposing that students stay in class until Dec. 23 and return after the holidays on Jan. 9. March Break will be from March 13 to 17, 2017.
The Wellington Catholic District School Board will be submitting a similar calendar to the ministry for approval.
The draft calendars are posted on the board website under School Year Calendars.
