UGDSB announces new superintendent of education

GUELPH – The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) is pleased to announce the hiring of Peggy Blair, who will join the executive committee as a superintendent of education.

Peggy brings with her decades of experience in public education.

She currently serves as a supervisory officer at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) with responsibility for specialized services including special education, behaviour analytics, autism and neurodevelopmental, psychological services, and speech and language.

Superintendent Blair also serves as the chair of the minister’s advisory council on special education.

Prior to her role at HWDSB, Blair worked in various school boards as a supervisory officer, coordinator of special education, principal, vice principal, and teacher.

Peggy is a proud champion for public education, who sincerely appreciates the ongoing, collective efforts of public education systems to serve students that have been historically underserved.

She will begin the role of superintendent of education on Sept. 1, filling a vacancy that will be left by the retirement of superintendent of education Carlo Zen, who will be retiring at the end of the year.

“We welcome Peggy to the Upper Grand and extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to superintendent Zen on his upcoming retirement,” official state in a press release.
