Two Wellington County OPP officers have COVID-19

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Two local police officers have beed diagnosed with COVID-19.

Western Region OPP officials made the announcement on March 31.

Officials say the “uniform members” of the Wellington County OPP are in isolation and are recovering.

“We wish them a speedy recovery. Their families and colleagues are in our thoughts,” states the OPP release.

“The members’ names are being withheld to respect their privacy.”

Officials say the OPP was made aware of the diagnoses on March 29 and  30.

“The OPP remains committed to the health and safety of our members and will continue to make decisions that help us limit the spread of COVID-19 in the communities we serve,” states the release.

Public health officials say there are now five confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Wellington County – and 26 across the region.
