Town redesign of ‘Discover Erin’ to promote local events, business, tourism

Growth and change in Erin, Hillsburgh coming fast, mayor says at chamber event

ERIN – Growth and change in the villages of Erin and Hillsburgh are on their way – and fast.

Erin Mayor Michael Dehn imparted that message in his remarks at the Erin Mayor’s Breakfast at the Erin Legion on April 5.

The event was attended largely by local business owners, politicians and municipal staff.

It’s the second year since the breakfast event was taken over from the town by the Erin Chamber of Commerce in 2023.

According to the mayor, between 500 and 600 new homes will be built in the municipality by the end of this year.

“Like, that’s rapid growth. It’s exciting, scary,” Dehn said.

“If we’re going to double the size of the community, things are going to change a lot more than we’ve ever seen before.”

There’s potential, he added, in “new customers and more taxpayers.”

The town’s new top staffer and former Orangeville mayor Rob Adams spoke after a flattering introduction by Dehn.

“We want to bring dollars into your businesses,” the CAO told the gathering.

The town plans to do that by redesigning the online “Discover Erin” platform, a community initiative showcasing local businesses and tourism.

“We’re going to be promoting upcoming events, things to do in Erin, and we’re going to be working on promoting the businesses in the community, and as well, encouraging people to come here to plan a trip,” Adams said.

That work will happen under a new “In Erin” logo revealed at the April 5 event.

The town is also looking at more ways to keep residents informed, Adams said.

A new events newsletter will be launched by the town on April 17, with the goal of connecting people with what’s happening in town.

Keynote speaker Sarah Prevette, an entrepreneur, spoke about the growing role of artificial intelligence in society and how businesses could leverage the technology.
