The Children”™s Foundation Challenges Guelph and Wellington County to Live Free

The Children’s Foundation is declaring Feb. 28, Live Free Day by challenging schools and community members to give up something that they take for granted each day.

Live Free ambassadors will pledge to Live Free of a daily treat and instead donate the money that they would normally spend on that item.

All money raised will go towards the Food and Friends Program which supports over 90 student nutrition programs in Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin counties.

Close to 80 schools, so far, have registered to participate and are planning their Live Free day events.

Last year, some of the other participants that accepted the challenge were:

– Aubrey Kyra, Scotiabank Imperial and Paisley;

– The Guelph Hydro Ambassadors;

– Nancy Buchner; and

– The Skyline Ambassadors.

This year they have already heard from:

– MPP Ted Arnott;

– The Community Resource Centre of North & Centre Wellington Ambassadors; and

– Glenna Banda.

The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington believes every child has the right to go to school well nourished and ready to learn.

The Food and Friends Program achieves this goal by supporting over 90 student nutrition program sites within Guelph and the two counties.

In the current school year, over 12,500 students will be provided with over 2.6 million snacks and meals.

For those who would like to register to take part individually or as a business visit www.livefreewdg.ca  or contact Kristen Drexler at kristen@childrensfoundation.org.
