The Canadian Dream

The Canadian Dream,

What is it to you?

To me it is the dream,

That holds us together like glue.

It is the thought of

Even though we are different,

We can accept and join together in agreement

Fitting together like a glove.

As Canadians we are a velvety cozy multi-coloured knitted blanket,

Every person is a strand being interwoven into society,

Filled with as much warmth as a Canada Goose Jacket,

Sizes and colours in an immense variety.

The Canadian Dream is as simple as

Waving hello to someone on the street,

Or a young woman pursuing her dream in jazz,

Or inviting a friend out for a bite eat.

Just like the citizens, Canada’s landscapes vary.

Some are sweeping, frigid tundra zones,

Others local admirable dry lands with surrounding prairies,

Or a maybe suburban utopia next door to the Jones.

Our dear country is a rainbow

Filled to the brim with diverse colours,

And almost the same amount of optimism as we have snow,

With acceptance after being fought for by

courageous soldiers.

We are much more than maple syrup and beavers,

We are The Great Wide North,

We are more than politeness and hockey players,

We are the incredulous ambition that drives a person  to go forth.

We are a blanket of freshly fallen snow in the morning,

Giving the ground a hug,

Sending aid to those who are mourning,

And making others feel snug.

What are we,

By now you should now see,

From Sea To Sea,

We Are The True North Strong and Free!
