Starlight Gala aims to raise over $200,000 for hospital equipment

HARRISTON – The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation holds its 21st annual Starlight Gala on May 25.

The gala was originally created by Palmerston and District Hospital (PDH) nurses as well as other hospital staff, to acknowledge National Nurses Week, with many members still on the committee today.

The focus of the event is to raise as much money possible for hospital equipment – more specifically for a new ultrasound machine for the hospital’s diagnostic imaging department.

The Starlight Gala will be held at the Harriston-Minto Community Complex, and the doors are set to open at 5pm with a Winston House dinner at 6:30pm.

Individual tickets for the gala are priced at $150 with over 600 tickets sold.

There will be food, entertainment, live and silent auctions, all topped off with a “Night at the Grammy’s” theme.

Starting in 2001 at the Palmerston Community Centre, the event now annually rotates through three community centres in Palmerston, Drayton and Harriston.

According to Gail Cronsberry, co-chair of the Starlight Gala leadership team, the event has grown to be the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation’s largest fundraiser.

All funds will go directly to the equipment list of needs, which includes the priority equipment fund.

Donations big and small are accepted, and those who can not attend the big night, but would like to donate can visit pdhfoundation.ca.
