LUCKNOW – Snobelen Farms, the Snobelen family and the Troy Snobelen Memorial Fund are collectively donating $50,000 to five local hospital foundations.
The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation is among the foundations receiving $10,000 each.
The donation celebrates Snobelen Farms’ 50th anniversary and honours the life of Troy Snobelen, past president of Snobelen Farms.
Foundations for hospitals in Kincardine, Wingham, Goderich and Brantford also received donations.
“For 50 years, we’ve been active participants in our community,” states Snobelen Farms president Sam Snobelen in a Dec. 21 press release.
“A gift investing in health care in the communities where we operate seemed the best way to celebrate and carry on the legacy of Troy, our business and employees.
“This donation comes at an important time, as frontline workers continue to work tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy.”
Snobelen Farms engaged employees to choose which charity in their communities should receive funding.
Through an employee vote, employees selected local hospital foundations as recipients of funds.
Snobelen Farms employees and members of the Snobelen family recently gathered at the company’s Lucknow location to celebrate the donation.
Each hospital foundation will soon participate in a cheque presentation ceremony to officially receive the gifts, the release notes.
In 1971, Mike and Judy Snobelen started Snobelen Farms with two grain bins on their home farm outside of Ripley, Ontario. Now Snobelen Farms operates eight elevator locations across Southwestern Ontario, including the Town of Minto, and employs approximately 60 full-time employees, specializing in the production, processing and sales of food grade soybeans, commercial grains and pedigreed seed for markets across Canada and internationally.
Throughout 2021, Snobelen Farms has been celebrating its 50th year in business.
