Six String Nation plays the Fergus Grand Theatre on March 20

CENTRE WELLINGTON – It’s the story of the creation of Voyageur, an acoustic guitar made from 64 different pieces of material, each with a tale to tell, each from a different part of Canada.

Six String Nation takes to the Fergus Grand Theatre stage on March 20 at 2pm.

The Voyageur connects Canadians across the vastness of our landscape, and the differences in our backgrounds and perspectives, theatre officials state.

Made from items as eclectic as Pierre Trudeau’s canoe paddle and Nancy Green’s ski, to others as poignant as the wall of a residential school, and the stump of the sacred golden spruce tree of Haida Gwaii, the story of this guitar’s creation is fascinating, moving and patriotic.

“Six String Nation is a signature event in our season,” says theatre coordinator Eric Goudie. “It’s the story of a guitar, of course, but it’s also a story of Canada. It’s a story that we all need to hear.”

At the end of the presentation local music students from the Adrian Jones Music School will perform, bringing the guitar to life.

Audience members will have the chance to pose for a picture holding Voyageur, and they too will become a part of its ongoing story.

Tickets are $35 each, and are available in the box office, by phone at 519-787-1981, or online at www.fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
