Seniors’ Centre for Excellence offers new project, events

NORTH WELLINGTON – The Seniors’ Centre for Excellence is presenting its August issue of Heart and Soul of Wellington, the Centre’s monthly newsletter.

This month’s newsletter features a variety of activities and information, ranging from how to stay cool during the hot summer months all the way to party lines.

New projects

The August newsletter even introduces a “New Horizons” project for technology training and support.

Project participants can learn how to become more “gadget smart” when using hand-held technology like smartphones and tablets.

Seniors living in northern wellington are invited to join a series of peer-led workshops, at no cost, to be delivered in person.

Tablets will be provided for use during the workshop.

Interested seniors will learn about safe online practices, the realities of online fraud and financial abuse, how to identify phishing and email scams, how to connect with peers and family through email and social media apps and more.

Workshops will run every Monday 11am to noon between Sept. 20 and Nov. 1 (except for Thanksgiving, Oct. 11). Sessions will be located in the boardroom location on the lower level of the Mapleton Health Centre, 11 Andrews Dr. W., Drayton.

To pre-register by email for any or all sessions, contact Michael Meunier, project lead at mmeunier@wellington-north.com.

To pre-register by phone for any or all sessions, call the Seniors’ Centre for Excellence at 519-638-1000.

If school buses are cancelled in north wellington (Division 3 Pink) on a Monday when a workshop is scheduled, that workshop is cancelled.
