The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) will host public information sessions on boundary reviews at Ponsonby and Rockwood schools and also on a possible new French immersion program in Rockwood.
An information meeting on the boundary review for Ponsonby Public School, which will also impact Elora Public School, is set for Nov. 14 from 7 to 9pm at the Ponsonby school. Officials have stated this review “will examine future enrolment pressures” at Ponsonby “due to the site’s inability to accommodate portables.”
The boundary review session for the new Rockwood elementary school is Nov. 21 from 7 to 9pm at Rockwood Centennial Public School.
This review will affect the boundaries for Eramosa and Rockwood Centennial schools and, depending on the registration response for a French immersion program starting in 2014, the review may also consider French immersion boundaries, thus also affecting Brisbane Public School.
The final decision will be based on the results of an early French immersion registration (for students entering JK, SK or Grade 1 in 2014) at Rockwood Centennial Public School on Oct. 1 and 2 from 10am to 3pm. Parents can learn more at a French immersion information night at Rockwood Centennial on Sept. 26 from 7 to 9pm. Details are available at www.ugdsb.on.ca/fi-rockwood.
