Ross-Zuj re-elected FCM caucus chair

At the annual Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Conference, Centre Wellington Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj was re-elected to the FCM board of directors for the 2014-15 term, and then re-elected by the board to the position of Ontario caucus chair.

Ross-Zuj is one of only 16 members representing the Ontario Caucus.

She has been an FCM committee member since 2007 and on the board of directors representing the Ontario caucus since 2010.

The FCM board of directors is made up of elected municipal officials and affiliate members from all regions and communities across Canada.

The board meets quarterly to discuss key municipal issues, set policy priorities and serve as a support system for municipalities bringing forward their messages to the government of Canada.

“It is an honour to be re-elected Ontario caucus chair by my Ontario FCM board members,” said Ross-Zuj.

“I look forward to continuing the board’s important work with the Government of Canada. I am very proud to advocate for Ontario and Wellington residents.”

Mayor Ross-Zuj’s political resume includes over 17 years of municipal government experience and being elected to the position of warden for the County of Wellington for two consecutive terms from 2008 to 2010.

“On behalf of county council and staff, I’d like to congratulate Mayor Ross-Zuj on her re-election to the FCM board of directors for 2014-2015,” said Wellington County Warden Chris White.

“I know as Ontario Caucus Chair, Joanne will continue to work hard on key issues facing Ontario’s municipalities,” White added.
