Riverfest Elora announces 2024 lineup

Artists include Violent Femmes, Treble Charger, Fleet Foxes, Josh Ross

ELORA – Riverfest Elora will return to Bissell Park for its 14th anniversary on Aug. 16, 17 and 18.

Event officials announced the 2024 lineup on March 22, saying it offers something for everyone.

“We’re excited,” said executive director David Lander.

He noted Friday evening of the festival will be more of a “throwback” day, with artists such as Violent Femmes and Treble Charger.

“Treble Charger hasn’t played a lot of shows in the last ten years and so, we’re excited to have them coming to the festival,” said artistic director Spencer Shewen.

Other artists playing on Friday night include Bully, Nix and Menno (of Hollerado), Naduh and Nyssa.

Saturday aims to be “more of a classic, traditional Riverfest lineup with indie rock and hip hop, and a bunch of other diverse things,” Lander explained.

Fleet Foxes headline day two of the festival, with other performances by Sudan Archives, Chali 2na & Cut Chemist, The Creepshow, Moneen and more.

“The artist I’m probably most excited about is Sudan Archives,” added Lander.

“They’re a really exciting merge of like hip hop, pop and R&B, and she plays the violin and dances and she’s going to be awesome.”

Festival officials say Sunday will have more of a “country-Americana leaning.”

“The whole weekend is going to be great, but if someone can only come for a day, and they’re really into country, maybe they’ll go the Sunday,” Lander suggested.

“Or if they’re really into indie rock, they might want to go the Saturday.”

Sunday’s lineup includes headliner Josh Ross and performances by Corb Lund, Wild Rivers, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Mariel Buckley and more.

“I’m really excited for Sarah Shook & The Disarmers,” said Shewen. “They’re like outlaw country from North Carolina.”

Lander added the band is “a little bit of country with attitude.”

‘A lot of work’

Creating such a huge lineup is not an easy task, and Shewen told the Advertiser festival officials have already started contacting people for next year’s festival – long before this year’s event has begun.

“We put a lot of work into it,” he said.

“It takes about a year to put the lineup together [and] what you start out with in your head often doesn’t look like what the end product ends up being.

“But with that being said, we’re really, really happy with the mix of artists this year and the lineup we were able to pull together.”
