Reflections: Life that Never Ends

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Rev. 21:4)

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25,26

Heaven is forever. It has infinite duration. Its perfect constitution, sublime condition and inexpressible glory is everlasting. The place of Heaven, distinguished by the permanent presence of God and a perpetual communion with him, continues always without intermission. There are no breaks or interludes, for God’s eternal existence is its essence. The Lord himself, who is eternal, is Heaven’s composition.

The life I have in Heaven is like no other. Its quality, distinguished as it is from all other forms of life in that it is not subject to death, is impeccable. The Lord himself is its substance and, as a citizen of Heaven, I will never die, because he cannot die. The Lord himself is the sole principle and influence that underlies Heaven’s unique qualities. Therefore, it will never change because he cannot change.

The capacities I have in Heaven for growth, creativity, reaction to stimuli, generation, ingenuity, etc., are immense, and the regular events that make up my life in Heaven are full of vigor and animation. I dance and sing with the best of Heaven’s citizens, and I engage comfortably and proficiently with its most brilliant residents.

In Heaven I have transcended all that is physical. I am animated by God’s Spirit and my intentions are shaped by the force and principles of his kingdom rule alone. The Lord himself is my spirit. He is my animation. He is my reality. He is my life. He is my eternity.

I can’t wait!

But wait!

While I await the full revelation of God’s glory in Heaven, the life that never ends and that exists in Heaven is also being manifested in me and in my world, as it is in Heaven, in more ways than I have considered.

“How so?” you may ask.

Well, that will be discussed in my next few articles. Look for them.

Meanwhile, be encouraged with the thought that if you are in Christ, you have a life that never ends!
