Heavy rainfall throughout the watershed caused the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) to issue flood warnings for several areas, including Drayton on Jan. 23.

The GRCA reported Tuesday morning the watershed received approximately 25mm of rainfall over the previous 24 hours with portions receiving up to 35mm.

Township of Mapleton staff were asked to warn residents in the Level 1 flood zone in the community of Drayton. The Level 1 flood zone primarily affects the fairgrounds area.
