Radiothon raises over $500,000 for mid-western Ontario hospitals

WINGHAM – The 20th Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon on Oct. 16, once again proved to be a dynamic partner in fundraising for rural mid-western Ontario health care with over $506,000 raised in support of 12 area hospitals.

Continuing with a virtual format again this year, donations were accepted during the all-day broadcast on AM920, which featured heartwarming stories from patients, as well as interviews with health care professionals and volunteers detailing the equipment needs at each participating hospital. A number of philanthropic businesses and organizations, including Bruce Power and Howick Mutual, directed special gifts towards several hospital foundations.

Among the projects funded by this year’s Radiothon are: x-ray machines, an ultrasound unit, cardiac monitors, an anesthetic gas machine and a mammography digital imaging machine.

When the Radiothon went off air at 4 pm, the grand total of funds raised on the day was $506,053.83. This total is expected to grow as the participating hospital foundations continue to accept donations towards their projects until the end of the year.
