Race for Erin council heats up

Residents of Erin will have many choices on the ballot for the upcoming municipal election.

The deadline for filing is July 27. By press deadline two people were running for mayor and seven others were running for four councillor positions.

Newcomer Robert Tummonds is running against Allan Alls for mayor.

Incumbents Rob Smith and John Brennan are joined by Jamie Cheyne, Mike Robins, John Gainor, Cynthia Anderson-Mancia and Douglas Hodgson in the race for the four at-large councillor positions.

Current Erin councillor Jeff Duncan is facing incumbent Pierre Brianceau for the ward 9 county council position.

The municipal elections take place Oct. 22.

School boards

Cassandra O’Donnell is the only filed candidate for Wellington Catholic District School Board (English Catholic) ward 2 and 4 (Erin, Guelph-Eramosa and Puslinch).

Erin resident Jen Edwards is running for the Erin, East Garafraxa and Guelph-Eramosa seat on the Upper Grand District School Board.

Denis Trudel of London is running for a seat on the Conseil Scolaire Viamonde (French Public). Genevieve Grenier of Kleinburg is running for the Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud (French Catholic).
