Province offers more support for not-for-profits

Ontario is providing more support for the not-for-profit sector in Guelph and Wellington County to better serve the community, promote diversity and encourage volunteerism.

The Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington is receiving $213,894 to launch a new project entitled CCVI (Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement) training and implementation expansion.

The Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington is a capacity building organization which recruits volunteers for local non-profits and charities and provides resources and training to support volunteer management and organizational development.

This project leverages the the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network’s online learning system to providing learning opportunities and professional development content to volunteer centres and managers of volunteers across the province.

The learning system is divided into two levels, a provincial training level and a regional training level.

“These organizations play an integral part in our social fabric and deliver programs and services that make people’s everyday life better,” said Laura Albanese, minister of Citizenship and Immigration

“This support reinforces the importance of a healthy and vibrant not-for-profit sector across Ontario.”

Through its Partnership Grant Program, the province is supporting projects at 21 not-for-profit organizations across Ontario.
