Proof of vaccine required at Centre Wellington facilities

CENTRE WELLINGTON – As of Sept. 22, Centre Wellington will require patrons of township facilities to be fully vaccinated (two shots plus 14 days).

Proof of vaccination includes vaccination receipts or medical exemption alongside government-issued identification such as a birth certificate, citizenship card, drivers licence, health card, Indian status card/Indigenous membership card, passport or permanent resident card.

Patrons will be required to show their vaccine status to participate in township programs and services at:

-the CW Community Sportsplex and the Elora Community Centre;

-the Fergus Grand Theatre; and

– Victoria Park Seniors Centre

Exemptions are granted to children under 12 years of age and patrons under the age of 18 years of age who are actively participating in an organized sport, including training, practices, games and competitions.

That includes sports leagues, martial arts, and swimming lessons.

Those with a documented medical exemption for the vaccine are also allowed to enter these buildings.

Organizations that use township facilities,  such as Ontario Minor Hockey Association, Ontario Women’s Hockey Association, Skate Canada, Ringette Ontario and other sports/programming organizations, may have different proof of vaccine rules.

Patrons should check with their organizing body before entering any township facilities.

Proof of age may also be required for exemptions.

Patrons are required to ensure that all identification and information provided is complete and accurate.

While Ontario is still in Step 3 of the Roadmap to Reopen, health screening and contact tracing is still  also required.

Screening verification and proof of vaccination will be required each time a patron enters a facility.

A press release from the township suggests visitors should allow extra time for screening. The township has a screening tool at www.centrewellington.ca/screening that can be filled out in advance of arrival.
