Police beat: Wellington OPP charge speeders with stunt driving

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Aug. 20, at approximately 8:55pm, a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Beatty Line. The officer observed a grey sedan travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 50 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 105 km/h.

As a result, Stephen Alexander Linde, 31, of Fergus, has been charged with Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on Sept. 15.

Stunt driving charge

WELLINGTON NORTH –  Jonathan Keith Spackman, 23, of Stratford, was charged with Stunt Driving here on Aug. 20.

Around 8:20pm, a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 109 near Arthur and observed a white sedan travelling westbound at a speed that appeared well above the 80 km/h speed limit.

The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

In both the above  cases the driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days as per statute.
